We would like to make this year’s event very special and different – we have thrown the event open to all with no restriction on participation – the only qualification is a desire to help, a bike and a voluntary donation according to your means.

When? Saturday, 4th October 2008, departure FROM SOFIA by bus – meet at 8 a.m. Alexander Nevski Square

Where? Borovetz- Sofia. Start FROM BOROVETS at 11 a.m. Expected arrival back to Sofia – 5 p.m. Distance – approx. 80 km.

Your company/organisation can also help either by sending a team of 3-5 participants or by sponsoring the event.

Additional information: The route has been coordinated with the relevant municipalities and police departments. The group will have a police and ambulance escort, as well as a bus for those that do not wish to ride the whole distance.

All participants take part at their own risk. All participants are reminded of the need to wear helmet, guard against heat exhaustion, over-exertion, ensure regular fluid and food intake and to carry the correct clothing in case of possible inclement weather.

The One Life’s Annual Bike Ride raise awareness of the problems children with serious illness & disadvantage are facing in Bulgaria.

We are hoping to attract 16 teams and run the competition along the lines of the Champions League with four divisions of four teams. The teams should consist of 6 players (5 on field plus goal keeper) plus max. 2 substitutes. The teams will play a round-robin and the top two from each group to the quarter-final stage. (3 points will be awarded for a win and 1 point for a draw)

The participation fee for each team is 1000 BGN.

Prizes will be awarded to the winners and runners-up.

Companies who form teams will be entitled to place banner around the pitches as advertising. In addition, there will be press coverage, both local and ex-pat and TV coverage too.

We have recently supported furnishing of two wards of the National Hospital for Infectious Diseases, provided them with new beds, bedding and ancillary equipment. We have more recently moved our efforts to the children’s oncology ward at Varna hospital. Apart from the hospitals, One Life Charity supports children in orphanages in Sofia, Panagyurishte, Pleven and Samokov and have supported a blind school, by providing them with new braile equipment.
